we are then forced to slow down and use the slower lane.""I wrote this article while I was studying the causes and treatments of depression and the impact this emotional state has on the general population.
While learning about the causes of depression, I began to understand that the
drastic changes we experience throughout our lives can trigger depressive episodes. Ageing, chronic illness and becoming disabled create circumstances which can be the cause of a major depressive episode in one's life.
I have experienced mild depressive episodes brought on by changes in my life. My symptoms were: weight loss; lack of concentration; and a lost sense of accomplishment or pleasure in my activities. I have never experienced recurring thoughts of suicide, and consequently felt that my depressive episodes were mild.
