If you are thinking that your brother might come around to a better attitude toward you, don't hold your breath.

I have a brother who is not much unlike yours, and I have known teachers, classmates, and others who have similar attitudes. I don't say this to be cruel or judgmental, but your brother holds a prejudice against you. The seeds of it were there probably from the first day he set eyes on you and realized that you were different from other people.

Prejudices, for the most part, are impossible to change; they do not respond to rational argument. Prejudice is too tied up in the emotional character of humanity for that. The best thing we can do as disabled people is to live with integrity and honor and the hope that, someday, someone might just come around.
