My story is never ending it seems. It started over 5 years ago when my only child was 20. He was immature and unable to grow and change like his friends did. He quit school, he stayed home, he stopped socializing. This is how it started and from that time (1995 till now 2000) it has been like living in hell.

We did the testing, the counselors, the special-ed, etc. We joined Tough Love and other groups. I did not stop because I knew something was wrong.

Could it have been the Malithione they sprayed for three years over our houses and on our cars? Maybe, but I didn't know what was going on at that time anyway.

We brought our son to many specialists. He had lost his friends because he quit school and they continued to grow. He never had a girlfriend, drinks or pot with other kids, etc. He seemed to have lost out on many of the so-called "normal" adventures young people do.

We got him to join Community Companions and they issued a case manager to our son. The case manager visited him regularly. I drove my son everywhere. Day and night year after year.

He started to express anger and not understanding him at that time we let the "system" place him in a board and care in order for him to learn "socialization." I did not get to check out the place because it happened so fast.

This is where our problems began. This is where our son got himself   "poisoned" with neuroleptics mixed into coffee for clients who could not swallow pills.

June of 1995 was the end of our "real life." I visited with him and ended up carrying him home. No one was there who had any authority. No one was there to watch my son lay in that bed covered with urine and paralytic. It was so bad for me that I can't remember many things except to get him home and away from this horrible place. The owner was out shopping, the clients were either out or laying in bed. All of them were drugged except my son until this day came.

From that time on it was hospital after hospital, emergency room after emergency room. The twitching in his head would not go away. I didn't know what NEUROLEPTICS were at this time but I did know that my son had been poisoned!

After months of emergency rooms, ambulance rides and assessments my son became angry that no one would help him get the "twitching" out of his brain. Of course the "psychiatrists" labeled him with many labels but did NO TESTS AT ALL.

They drugged him even more than he was and with more harmful NEUROLEPTICS. Nothing they did helped him or us. He began pacing and rocking in place everywhere. He stopped talking except to talk about getting out of this life. He wanted to die and begged us to help him.

He was admitted over and over and NO ONE LISTENED TO US! No one called us back, no one told us what was going on! It was the most hideous experience I have ever had. The locked psycho-wards with lots of others being drugged just like my son.

They served him a certificate while he was under the influence of neuroleptics. He did not know what any of this meant. Even now he has not got a clue what happened and what all this is about. They did not tell us but I did hear from others who were there that I should go into his room and get the "paper." I did just that, I stole the papers stating that they were going to Conserve my son without telling us. The "doctor" told my husband and me that we should not worry about the paper and that it was just a formality in this hospital. Because my son was over 18 they would not tell us a thing.

I won't go on because there are 5 years of this hideous "psychiatric abuse, lies, coercion", etc. But I will tell you TARDIVE DYSKINESIA is not a pretty site to have when you are only 26 and never had a life except for neuroleptics, anti-psychotics and anti-depressants.

We are the Conservators for our son and will remain until he dies or we die. That's the way it is and no one will take it away like they try to take it from many of the Allies in our group RAPS/Relatives & Allies of Psychiatric Survivors, Branch of Support Coalition International/Dendron.
