Living in a children's world

I am a handicapped mother of four. My eldest is 12 and my youngest is 15 months. I have CP, epilepsy, severe asthma, and learning disabilities, including dyslexia.

I enjoy writing poems and stories and write mostly for my children. Reading and writing are hard for me and I can not write the fancy words and things like many of your writers have.

I have had to struggle and fight much of my life and still do in many ways. I have rarely known acceptance outside my family and haven't a belonging place outside family.

In many ways I see and understand the world as a child does. The world of society is often a hurtful and hateful place where there is little understanding or tolerance of those who are different. I still live in the children's world. It is a wonderful place filled with magic and wonder.

My writing is simple and my understanding of many things is what many adults see as childish. I was once told by some special friends that I write and talk poetry. I do not think in words and often words get mixed up.

My language is a language of pictures and thoughts. People who do not depend on words or still understand the world of a child understand my writing and enjoy it. Many do not understand. They are adults and do not know how to listen. They see and hear the mixed up words and can not see beyond that.

I want to write but often hesitate because of past experiences. If you think my writing is good enough for your place you can post it. I am working on a story about a very special brother.

Please tell me if there is a place for a handicapped mother who in many ways is still a child here at your place. You have a place for stories but do you have a place for poetry? Often it is much easier to write than stories. With poetry you are not bond so by sentence structure, etc.
