Chronic Depression & Anxiety Attacks

Story

Back in '79, I had my first episode with depression. I was a nurses' aide at the time, but felt I could no longer work in that field.

I went to business school and got my ASB in accounting, thanks to OVR. I worked in the accounting field for the next 15 years. As a single parent, I thought I was doing quite well, never realizing that this condition could sneak up on me at any time.

By the early '90's, I found that not only had my condition returned, but had affected me to the point that, after 3 hospitalizations, I could no longer work.

I have been on disability since '95 and hope to get past this limbo I have been living in. While I do agree I needed the time away from the work force, I feel like I need to try to get on with a career or schooling. I just don't know what to do at this point... it's quite scary.

I have also felt that, if I can't get back to a more productive life, then why do I have a life at all? That prospect is also scary, and, at times, is a daily battle for me. I'm at a point where contacting OVR is a realistic goal and, hopefully with some confidence and guidance, I can figure out what I actually can and want to do with my life.
