1 year ago my 32 year old son was struck by a car.The doctors removed a large part of the right side of his brain on april 3,2002. I got thru that night in a haze .The next nite about the same time they called again and told me they needed to operat again because he had 3 strokes on the left side and they had to stop the bleeding .Niether time did they actually say they were removing any of his brain.My wonderful choosen child[adopted at 1]was left with very little but they never told us ,his parents ,anything but he COULD recover some .I know now it was lie .I have lived a nitemare since the first nite. Getting a call at 10:15 and told my son had been in an accident ,I naturally thought broken bones internal injuries maybe ,I went to the hospital alone but had to call my husband and daughter when they said it was his brain that was injured,and they had him in surgery.They didnt think he was going to live those first few nites ,they had him on life support .They retrained his brain over the next two and ahalf months to make his heart beat and his lungs to pump,they never told us that it would be the only things in his body that would work,in doing this they sentenced him to a world he cannot exscape.I brought my son home july 19.2002.I have since then cared for him .Ispent all last year just trying to find formula to feed him thru his peg tube.I finally found someone that not oly would furnish it for 11.00 dollars acase but deliver the ten cases and any other supplies to me [formula is at the least regulely 72.00 dollars a case .My husband and I are not financial well of any way medicaide doesnt cover it.I had a major stroke myself in Febuary of this year ,I have almost compleetlly recovered . I look at my son now and wonder how much better he might have been if they had let God decide what he wanted to happen .He would - -might be recovered and dancing again.The doctor I know swear to save a life any way they can but sometimes I believe they should leave it up to a hiher power.Now I have nothing but my son body to care for ,no words no responces except blinks to quetions that may or maynot be responces. I do have an aide now that is the very best for 5 hours a day m-f.I do have a little less stress but I still can't help wondering what would have happened if God had made the choice.Oh and incdenally they found my son at fault for the accident and placed him[in a coma and on life support] at fault,and Placed him under arrest.Left us his parent responcable for seeing that he has what he needs on ss,it doesnt even cover part of his needs .I will be honest I laughed for three day when ever they tried to stop me from going in his ICU room.Iwould like to hear from anybody that has a brain damaged quad adult child.I would like to hear from anybody at all I still believe in God and do not quetion what I have been left to do love and are for him as he is .I still wonder tho.
