Story

Hi Tamar:

My name is Josh Nelson. I am 18 years old. I believe that was the most awesome story I have ever read. Your story is so true. I believe that love is hard to come by when you have a disability.

I have erb's palsy in my right arm. I look normal to most when I hold both my arms kind of bent. I have had three girlfriends, and each one had claimed to not care about my disability.

I have tried to meet different girls here on campus at Oswego State University. Every time I have thought I had found the right girl, I would tell them about my disability and they seem to back off, and I am realizing it isn't easy to find the right person.

I try not to let my disability bother me, but I have found it more difficult to do certain things like draw for a technology education class. I have even found it more difficult to explain to people why I drive with a spinner knob on my car. I seem to get laughed at.

I have many other friends with disabilities. My friend, Brian, has CP, and he and I are the best of friends when together. I know he is in some denial for his CP, and I have tried to help him out.

I wish there was some special way to get rid of disabilities. I know we can't, and I know mine has made me who I am. But who am I?

I doubt I will ever meet the right girl or lose my virginity or anything else. I have almost given up on love, and, I know, at almost age 19 I may be too young to know what real love is, but I am sure I will never experience it at this rate.

I think your story was very moving, and I wish the whole world could read it.

Thanks for your time and your great story.
