There is a world of difference that none of you seem to get between accepting yourself and loving your disability. The former is sensible, the latter is stupid.
If your disability is such a great experience, so wonderful in teaching you compassion, caring, and the real, true, inner meaning of life, would you trade up? If having one leg gone is a good thing, how about two? If you're a paraplegic, why not become a quad?
The problem is, you've been looking on the bright side for so long, you can't see the dark.
Also, in this day and age, having a minority group to identify with is kind of a relief when it comes to sorting out the oppressors. But advantages and disadvantages notwithstanding, if a cure came along, in easy reach, or even a half cure, I doubt you'd turn it down.
