The most  difficult and frustrating thing I've gone through

I am almost 47 and had my right hemisphere stroke when I just turned 44. It has been the most difficult and frustrating thing I have gone through.

After almost 3 years of therapy, I am doing much better, but still have a long way to go. I can no longer drive a car and have to depend on people to get me where I need to go. My family got together and purchased an electric scooter for me for Christmas so at least I can get out of the house occasionally and "cruise the neighborhood".

My family consists of a husband and 3 grown daughters, 1 of which is now married with a child of her own. If it wasn't for my family, especially my daughters, I never would have made it this far. My daughters would baby sit me each and every day bath me, dress me and get me out and about. They always pushed me to never give up and to keep working as hard as I could to get well again.

My goal was to be able to walk (with some assistance) down the aisle at my daughters wedding, which I was able to do.

My husband had the toughest time coping with my stroke and was very abusive and frustrated for almost 2 years. He would become very angry when I failed at doing a task, and was verbally, and mentally abusive. He was so angry not at me but at my disability. He had lost the one thing he could always count on .... me.

But through time and prayer he has realized that I am still the same person he married 25 years ago, but just a little slower. My girls were my life and they never quit on me, during these really difficult times.

My husband and I are now rebuilding our lives together and coping as best we can, but at least we are doing it together. We both are not out of the woods yet, but at least we can see some light through the darkness of the forest.

I am inspired by your life and attitude. Thank you for sharing it.
