Acquaintances and Friends

Story

I know a lot of people, but very few of them are friends. What friends I have usually come through my work.

Is that unusual?

My wife, Pam, believes, if I didn't have a disability, we, as a couple, would probably have more "casual friends" -- more involved in the community.

We're both outgoing and like people, but this is an issue we haven't resolved yet. And we probably haven't done our best in making time for friendships that "could have been."

Story

I had a very similar experience except I had a disability all of my life. I never had the social skills to connect with people. It affected my ability to retain a job. I had some work in the rehabilitation field but it never lasted. Now I am unemployed again and am desperately seeking employment. I really don't want a traditional job since it never worked out for me in the past. Do you have any ideas? I have a few but I don't want to do them alone.
