Getting The Job Done!

I am sick and tired of the State Vocational Rehab's run-around in my state, so I decided to take drastic measures and write the Social Security Administration in Maryland and let them know I was not getting the right kind of vocational services that will at least allow me to go back to work part-time as my psychiatrist said I could do.

My State Vocational Counselor kept giving my psychiatrist and me a hard time and he referred me to this agency which I don't know about. It is suppose to provide supportive employment and a job coach.

But, he could give me no guarantee that this place could even find and place me in a part-time position.

I kept telling him, as did my psychiatrist, that I needed vocational tests, career testing, aptitude testing, and so forth to determine my strengths and weaknesses, what kind of work I may be best suited to go into etc.

I am not a stupid person regardless what society thinks of the mentally disabled, learning disabled and mentally ill. I am educated, and, although throughout high school the guidance counselors said I would not make it through college, I did, and I made better grades in college than I did in high school.

My state's Rehab Counselor e-mailed shortly before Easter of this year and asked me if I still wanted his help in finding part-time employment. I told him, first of all, my psychiatrist did not have a high opinion about the state agency. He had given him nothing but trouble from day one. I told him what I needed. If I didn't get it when Social Security mailed out the Ticket To Work program this June in my state, I would get what I needed to get done to enable me to go back to work part time and that I would go over the state's head and report them to the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. Well, it got the job done and soon I got back to see my state counselor, and he is going to send me to get all those battery of tests done.

I need to go back to work at least part time. I have been living off a fixed income of $520.00 a month. I need to be able to pay my debts and bills and have something left over. I cannot do that with my SSI income.
