Dear Jody,

Thank you for sharing your story, your advocacy and your letter. I am a US citizen who volunteers in a "treatment facility" for children which were thought to be "ir-recuperable" under the communist regime. At this facility there are also many adult patients. In looking at them, the way they are neglected, I thought I had seen some of the worst that could be done to people in an institution.

Your story proved those beliefs wrong... benign neglect may be better than active "treatment." And, it's happening in my own backyard. I cannot condemn doctors here for stupidity when doctors in the US knowingly harm their patients.

On a day when I very much needed some perspective, your story provided it. Thank you.
