Amen! I am C3/4 quadriplegic. When I hear my nurse say things like, "All right, I finally have a weekend off," or "I can't help you today, I don't feel well," I want to scream. I wish I could have just one day off a year from pain and grief. I don't feel well a lot of days, but nobody gives a euphemistic screw or even asks about my feelings. They believe, "He is paralyzed; he can't feel pain."
I have not dated in 16 years, even though everyone says, "You are so special; you will find that special someone just for you." I want to puke when I hear crap like that.
"Grief -- what grief? He's paralyzed; he can't feel pain."
