Divorce, Abuse and Bipolar Disorder

Story

I have been divorced almost a month. Previously, my ex-husband would send me most of his paycheck, to cover the mortgage and living expenses for our son and me. Then, suddenly, when he decided to file for divorce, in another state, the money decreased to about a third.

Now, that we are divorced, it is only about $200.00 for child support that the Army requires him to pay. The house is going to be foreclosed, starting on the 15th of Nov. I have been unable to get a job. I am on several medications. I have no problems with raising my son, but I can't seem to make any money. I do get disability benefits.

I was diagnosed while married to him. He has a history of abusing me on a few occasions. I wonder if that could have something to do with it? I feel sure, that he is divorcing me either because he has a new love, or the effects of my manic depression.

I am now compliant with all of my drugs. I haven't always been because of the side effects. It seems like he ought to have to pay me maintenance as long as I need it. I am halfway through funeral college. I feel sure I will be able to get a job when I complete it. In the meantime I am worried about becoming homeless, and his trying to take our son, who he has barely paid attention to in the last few years (he is eight).

I cannot find any legal information about this. Can anyone help? We were married ten years, and he is in the Army. Thanks
